LOBSTER POT F.C.

Lobster Pot was formed in 1982 by a group of ex Forties players and Sunday players who wanted an organised game without the “fierce must win at all cost attitude”. Sure we wanted to win but at the same time we wanted to enjoy ourselves playing the game. With this philosophy and a very strong individual commitment in terms of players, we approached Fritz Reiter owner of the Lobster Pot.

He very much admired our unique proposal of forming an organised team to play and enjoy the game and as he (and we) had no illusions of winning the Triple Crown in our first year agreed to provide the start up sponsorship. Fritz and the Lobster Pot staff gave us incredible initial support as we did take a while to get established into the serious business of playing for points.

The fact the team has survived over 25 years is a testament to that initial philosophy. However we were able to operate both a first team and a “Sunday” team in those early years and the team became well known for being a “fun” team to play for, and still applies today.  - John White
